Beauty Gap: Manasi 7 products review

Initially I planned a single post about Manasi7, but considering the length of the list of questions I had for Susanne Manasi Persson and the fascinating insights that she shared, it was only logical to do…two. After introducing Susanne to you and her sharing tips on how to choose the best shades of products for yourself, in this post I will tell you about Manasi 7 guiding principles and share thoughts on my personal Manasi 7 favourites.

I was lucky to have had the makeover with Susanne, where she chose the ‘perfect’ shades of her products for me. Since then not only have I successfully replicated her lessons and application techniques at home, I have also extended my collection of Manasi 7 products. It would be fair to say that I haven’t enjoyed playing with make-up and creating different looks with one make-up brand to such an extent for a long time.

The products are easy to apply and blend and they ‘last’ well throughout the day, whether at work or after a gym workout. They also don’t create a ‘mask’, but rather help enhance your features to your advantage, adding glow & colour where skin is naturally ‘lacking’ it. Giving your confidence to shine, professionally & personally. Not in a blinding way, but in a way that people pause and look at you, thinking ‘I want whatever it is she is using’. And yes, I am talking about make-up .)

COLOUR AND EFFECT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN REGARDS OF COLOUR COSMETICS” Susanne Manasi-Persson, founder of Manasi 7

Manasi 7 All Over Shine, Glossy Finish, in Cristallo, £48, 15g

Truth be told, I don’t know how I existed without this product, which nourishes skin, adds glow (that lasts & lasts, yet appears to look very subtle and natural) and enhances the performance of other Manasi 7 products, like All Over Colour, Bronzelighter or Skin Enhancer.

OUR HERO INGREDIENTS APRICOT KERNEL OIL, SWEET ALMOND OIL, SHEA BUTTER, CARNAUBA WAX, BEESWAX, CANDELILLA WAX AND CASTOR SEED OIL ARE DERIVED EXCLUSIVELY FROM NATURAL, WILD HARVESTED AND CERTIFIED ORGANIC SOURCES, KEEPING THEIR NATURAL EFFECTIVENESS.

Manasi 7: All Over Shine in Cristallo (top) & Bronzelighter in Roseate

This product is a veritable all-in-one, the likes of which are few in the oversaturated beauty marketplace. It is super smooth and lightweight. It provides a colourless finish & sheen when used on bare skin, including lips and eyes, or can be used on top of the foundation. You can use it as a moisturising lip balm (and you won’t need to endlessly re-apply it, as it really does have a long-lasting moisturising effect) or a clear gloss. You can mix it into your foundation or with highlighter or bronzer.

Yet there is more. This product is rich in fatty acids, enzymes, minerals & vitamins, especially natural Vitamin A, which helps boost natural skin cell production. It also boasts antioxidant properties and is a potent source of amino acids.

OUR ORGANIC PRODUCTS CONTAIN A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENTS. IN THE ORGANIC FARMING NO TOXIC PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES, FUNGICIDES OR CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS ARE TO BE USED AND GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS ARE NOT ALLOWED. OUR CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENTS ARE MANUFACTURED BY ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PROCESSES, QUICKLY AND EASILY BIODEGRADABLE AND EASY TO RESTORE IN THE NATURAL BIOLOGICAL CYCLES. FROM THE SOIL UP, ORGANIC FARMING IS BETTER FOR US AND THE ENVIRONMENT.

Why do I like this product SO MUCH might I ask? Well, it’s as pleasurable to use, as it is versatile. You can use it on lips, eyelids and face. It adds glossy glow to your features and helps create a dewy look. It adds smoothness to the skin and is lightweight, yet truly is a case when little goes a loooong way. At the same time is helps the skin looks hydrated and more plump!

You can gently apply (read tap) it all over your face with the tips of the fingers, if you are after a subtle, shiny glow. Glide along the cheekbones for a spotlight effect, as well as apply on brow bones and cupid’s bow. You can also gently dab it on to the centre of the eyelid and inner corners of the eyes. It mixes beautifully with the All Over Colour, Bronzelighter or Strobelighter – just play with it and see what overall effect and look you want to achieve.

When using it – on its own, mixed with other Manasi 7 products or on top of them, every time I end up receiving compliments on my ‘dewy’ skin – and as I am in my early 40s, this is not something that I take for granted, considering frenetic pace of life in a busy, polluted city and frequent late nights. Sometimes lack of sleep catches up with me and skin looks a bit tired, compared to say my skin in my 20s or 30s – well, this product, while not exactly replacing regenerative sleep effect for the skin, does make the skin appear more alive and less tired – and that’s on a not so good day. On a good one it just makes the skin look ravishing!

NATURAL/WILD HARVESTED REFERS TO INGREDIENTS OR ITS DERIVATIVES PRIMARILY GATHERED IN NATURE OR IN THE WILD. WE CANNOT LABEL THESE INGREDIENTS OR PRODUCTS ORGANIC BECAUSE THEY ARE NON-AGRICULTURAL, BUT NO TOXIC PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES, FUNGICIDES, CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS OR GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS ARE USED. EQUALLY IMPORTANT IS THAT NATURAL/WILD HARVESTED ALSO CAN REFER TO INGREDIENTS FROM OUR SELECTED SMALL-SCALE SUBCONTRACTORS THAT DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY OR ECONOMICS TO CERTIFY, BUT STILL FOLLOW THE SAME HIGH STANDARDS OF THOSE APPLIED TO ORGANIC FARMING. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR MANASI7 TO ALSO SUPPORT THESE SMALLER INDEPENDENT SUBCONTRACTORS TO MAKE A CHANGE IN THE INDUSTRY.

Manasi 7 Skin Enhancer, Satin Finish, £48

This somewhat unusual foundation comes in four shades (I use “Sarcoline”) and while Susanne made its application look very easy, it took me a couple of attempts to get its application ‘right’. Not because it is complicated, but because of its texture, which is both rich and light.

It is an all–in-one customisable foundation, which can also be used as concealer, as well as an eye primer. The creamy skin tint has been designed to work on its own, as well as with the other Manasi products, in order to create the ideal colour for your skin tone, as it changes from season to season. Susanne recommends getting a couple of shades and mixing them up throughout the year, as seasonal changes affect the appearance & colour of your skin.

The silky formula (it has medium to high coverage, depending how much of it you layer on the skin) glides on smoothly and dries quite quickly to a semi-matte / matt finish, without the need for the powder application on top. I tend to mix it with Cristallo or apply it on its own and then dab Cristallo ‘strategically’ on my cheekbones, eyelids & lips. In both cases you will end up with the most beautiful and natural-looking glow. As if you’ve been on a holiday or had plenty of rest in a tranquil environment .)

Manasi 7 All Over Colour, Creamy Finish, 12 shades, £39

Manasi 7
Manasi 7 All Over Colour

All Over Colour is as versatile, as it is fun to use on lips & cheeks. Susanne also recommends it as a contour (depending on the shade) & cream eye shadow, but I have to say that I stick to using it on lips & cheeks only. Maybe my make-up daredevil is hibernating for now .) You can also mix up different shades for endless colour combinations & experiments with your make-up “looks”. And because each shade is light and easily buildable to desired effect, they truly are very customisable.

Manasi 7
Manasi 7 All Over Colour in Etruscan

Shade description & tips from Susanne Manasi Persson: “Our All Over Colour Fuchsine is beautiful when dabbed gently on someone with fair skin tone. It creates that perfect flush of rosy cheeks, but is also wonderful when applied in layers on someone with a deeper skin tone. If you prefer nude and neutral shades, I recommend Chamoisee, Bisque or Etruscan. Kobicha is a great neutral brown for deeper skin tones. Densuke is a soft coral and Sanguinello is a stronger summer coral. Fuchsine, Ikura and Heliotrope are modern versions of pink, red and purple. Alizarin is a red with blue undertones and Kuranberi is a deep cranberry red.”

Manasi 7

Formulated with the the often elusive balance of oils and waxes, each shade of this creamy product glides on effortlessly and blends easily into skin and lips, adding natural flush of colour to any complexion all year round. Susanne chose coral Sanguinello (“a bright, yet sophisticated coral for the summer vibes”)for me and pinky Etruscan (“a neutral antique rose pink hue with earthy undertones”) in the summer and I have fallen in love with both shades. Sanguinello for when I want more vibrancy, Etruscan when I want a subtle blush and lip flush. A few weeks ago I bought Bisque (“a barely there, peachy-beige hue with a touch of warmth”) and love using it on my cheeks, but find that for the lips I tend to “umf” it up a little with either of the above shades.

As I was doing more in-depth research about Manasi 7, I became riveted by the unusual shade names that Susanne chooses for her products. I asked her how she comes up with the names of the shades and she replied, saying that “I research and want to create names that have some reference to the shades. For example, the newest shade of red that is launched this month, ‘Kuranberi’ means cranberry in Japanese.”

Manasi 7 Strobelighter, Radiant Finish, 3 shades, £42

Manasi 7 Strobelighter

Susanne has demonstrated this product’s uses during the makeover, but I didn’t initially purchase it. I already had several highlighters in my make-up arsenal & was eager to ‘experiment’ with the other Manasi 7 products first. However when the newest shade of the product, Elysian (“an enhancing soft & warm champagne”), was launched, I went to try it out on my skin and swiftly purchased it.

Manasi 7 strobe lighter

It helps create the natural radiance that your skin might be lacking & works on almost any skin tone. It works equally well when you want to enhance your own skin’s glow, as it adjusts in any light to provide a soft focus effect. You can also mix it a tiny amount of Cristallo to give your skin an even more dewy glow.

Beyond highlighting, this product is a perfect companion for primer, foundation, concealer or even moisturiser – for when you want to add some luminescence to the skin. Simply sweep & blend it on your cheekbones, bridge of the nose or lips with the tips of your warm fingers.

Manasi 7 Strobelighter

Susanne formulated Strobelighter with natural & wild-harvested oils, waxes & butters, creating a lightweight creamy highlighter that attracts light to the skin, without weighting it down.

It fairly quickly melts into the skin, smoothing the skin & adding soft-focus to the bare skin or to the overall look of make-up. As an added bonus it is also infused with ultrafine, light-reflecting pearls that add radiant finish to your skin or make-up. I love experimenting with it, using it as ‘eyeshadow’ or instead of lipstick, or adding it into my coloured lip balm. Versatility is the name of the game here!

Manasi 7 Bronzelighter Radiant Finish, Roseate, £42

Manasi 7 bronzelighter
Manasi 7 Bronzelighter in Roseate

“The perfect golden rose non-orange hue adds depth & dimension to the skin and flatters all skin tones”

Susanne Manasi Persson, Manasi 7 founder

This non-orange hue can double up as highlighter for deeper & darker skin tones, but it has a sophisticated trick in its depth. Bronzelighter adjusts in any light, natural or artificial, imparting skin with a soft focus effect, as well as natural-looking glow. It also adds depth & dimension to facial features, without ‘weighting’ them down. They ‘burnished’ bronze it intriguing on the eye -both when you look at it within the pot, as well as when you apply it to the ‘high’ points of your face, emphasising bone structure.

How best to use Bronzelighter: again, it mixes beautifully with primer, foundation, balm or moisturiser, adding luminescence to the skin. It delivers a variety of effects, depending on how you use it. I like mixing it with the Strobelighter – I add a little to the top of my hand, then mix the same amount of Strobelighter and tap the ‘mix’ on cheekbones or underneath them, top of the nose & temples, as well as under the brows.

Tip on application: best applied with the fingers or foundation brush.

My Manasi 7 collection thus far (and growing .)

If there is one main thing to take away from this post, it is this. Performance, colours, sustainability and care inform all decisions that Susanne takes when developing products. And her products are as good for you (both the skin, as well as outward confidence in your looks), as they are for the planet. Something that many brands now claim, but very few still deliver on…..

  1. Very interesting post! I really like Susanne’s products.
I was wondering if you have tried the dry blush duo as well and if yes, what do you think about it.

    Thank you

    Sarah
