Masking has been part of female beauty rituals for centuries, ingredients and modes applications evolving over time. While some might say that they aren’t necessary for your skin to look its best, what masking offers – a slowing down of time, opportunity to examine your face, paying attention to what your skin is trying to say to you through redness or little imperfections, taking deeper breaths – is something that we all should make time for. After using the newest launch from Siam Seas, the Skin Revolution Mask, I am more resolute than ever to mask more regularly, as part of my weekly skincare routine.
Don’t get me wrong, I love having facials and someone doing the “beautifying work” for me, but I also find deep, internal satisfaction in taking the time for myself. Examining the ingredients, smelling the herbs and plants that have been combined by someone’s else’s hands (well, in the case of the masks that I choose to use, made by artisans, rather than by impersonal corporations focussed on mass production), applying the mask to my skin with my fingers, enjoying the feeling of touch or the sensual movement of the brush along the contours of my face.
“What if you discovered a mystical mask that could brighten your complexion and shrink your pores after the first use? And it could clear congestion and perk-up sluggish skin after steady use?” Supadra Geronimo, founder of Siam Seas
The Skin Revolution Mask, 100 ml, $65
What makes The Skin Revolution Mask special is the blend of potent organic herbs to will help you conquer the ‘rebellion’ of your skin. You can expect to notice an improvement in the clarity of your skin, as well as the diminished size of the pores, thanks to the powerful ancient ingredient, Black Rice. Blended with a highly effective brightening agent that slows down tyrosinase activity during inflammation and lightening dark scars is Mung Bean. The Queen of Fruit, Mangosteen, will help reduce inflammation, heal lesions and fights acne, while simultaneously preserving skin’s natural collagen – not quite the Fountain of Youth, but close enough .)
“Skin Revolution mask is made of properties of our indigenous plants and a result of knowledge that have been passed on to us for generations. Through creation of this mask, I share it with you my culture and language – but we are still the same race, we are human. It is such an honour for me to do this.”Supadra Geronimo
Supadra Geronimo, founder of Siam Seas, develops each product not only with care & knowledge of ingredients, incorporating ancient traditions & rituals into the mix. She also has struggled with her own skin, so that informs her formulating process as well. Interestingly, Skin Revolution Mask is created at the peak of harvest for specific botanicals in the formula, so until Supadra can find a place to harvest these fresh ingredients in a different part of the world, it will remain a limited edition product.
Supadra: “For the longest time Rice Water has been the source of clarifying properties in our beauty recipe, both in North and South Asia. We use it to cleanse our hair and skin, as well as mask skin with the rice grains. It contains so many minerals that our skin needs to repair itself. It also helps to cleanse the skin gently, but deeply. I wanted to share this beauty tradition with my customers, by bottling up Siam Seas Mask and allowing them to ‘time travel” to Southeast Asia. I want to send you a piece of my home in this healing potion. That was the first purpose of Skin Revolution – to introduce you to potent ingredient that effectively has been healing skin in Asia for centuries. Second purpose was to create a mask that deeply cleanses but without drying the skin. I wanted a mask that cleanses so deeply, that it makes your pores look smaller, because all the ‘heartdened’ oil on the surface of the skin is cleansed out. Three, I wanted a mask that will show results, even after using it once, in calming inflammation, clarifying skin tone and healing acne.”
“Once I have written down my purposes, my journey of
research and testing began and it has been a long year for sourcing
solution. It is one of the most potent masks in the
market and I could not be prouder to share a piece of my home in this
skin powerhouse with you.” Supadra
How to Mix :
“Take a teaspoon of The Skin Revolution Mask into the palm of your hand or treatment bowl. Add three teaspoons of very warm water. Mix well and let it sit for a few seconds, allowing the formula to activate and turn into a light paste. Similar to when you steep a fresh cup of tea, the ingredients in this mask are activated when they come in contact with water.”
How to Apply:
Apply the mixture generously to your face and décolleté area. When the mask starts to dry, lightly mist your skin with water or toner to allow for maximum nutrient absorption.

The Skin Revolution Mask is not intended for hydration but instead, formulated to detoxify your skin and deeply cleanse your pores. It works to smooth out uneven texture and after it is rinsed off, your skin will be transformed to a clear and illuminated complexion.
For those with dry, dull skin, Supadra recommends adding newly reformulated hydrating, anti-inflammatory serum – Twilight. You can add 5-6 droplets of Twilight into your mask mixture before applying or one teaspoon of honey for supplementary hydration.
Supadra started shipping the limited edition mask to customers in early February and she also ran a special promotion, from which I benefited as well .) Accompanying the mask was the masking angled brush, crafted with bacteria-resistant bristles and a wooden handle, perfect to complete a luxury masking experience. The brush mixes the ingredients together well, whether you add water, serum or honey and as it is angled, applying the mask around your face, neck & decolette is easy & efficient.
I will be honest, this mask blew my expectations away like a good brush gets rid of an old cobweb. After enjoying its powerful scent that reminded me a little of the ‘tiger balm’, I mixed it in the palm of my hand with water, aided by the brush & applied it to my face, omitting the eye area. I extended its reach to my neck and upper chest, luxuriating in the moments of tranquility. I expected the mask to warm up the skin – instead it cooled it like an icy mist that settles on the skin, bring the soft uttering of ‘ahhh’ wanting to escape from the lips. But this coolish sensation wasn’t about the cold or freezing feeling, rather it calmed the skin, neutralising the internal heat as the seconds turned into minutes. I felt enchanted by the unexpected ritual that I thought I knew.
Masking you say? This mask breaks the mold and gives you the unexpected sensation. Not only that, as the mask starts to dry on the skin, lightly mist the skin (I did it with Siam Seas Yen Heal and Hydrate Toner, but you can use your favourite toner) to allow the nutrients to “slip” deeper into the skin. Then rinse off and enjoy the sense of wonder – plumper, calmer, more radiant complexion. Even if the weekend has been active or natural elements of city living have racked havoc on your skin, this mask will help ‘undo’ some damage & help you & your skin feel calmer & more radiant.

Twilight BeCalm Serum, 30ml, $80
This was the first time I have tried Twilight BeCalm, but it is “an updated” version. Supadra tweaked the scent, adding vanilla extract for sweetly sensational aroma notes, making the new version of the serum more sensorial. The new formula also contains Geranium Rose, a potent anti-bacterial agent that gives the serum a uniquely uplifting scent.
The potency is now also greater at healing inflammation and has additonal repairing benefit from botanical retinol – Bakuchiol (note: there are wide-reaching conversations about this ingredient online, so in this particular instance I am quoting Supdara or using information from the press release & Siam Seas website).
According to Supadra, when you combine Twilight BeCalm Serum with Sea Element Beauty Balm (I haven’t tried it yet, so can’t offer an opinion on it), the synergy of Bakuchiol and Vitamin C in both formulas is incredible! According to Supadra you will notice smoother texture, improvement in hydration and evenness of your skin tone!
Tip: The Twilight BeCalm serum is also amazing for the sunburn as well. It is also great for those with cystic acne and inflamed skin.
“BeCalm Serum has also been reformulated with exceptional anti-inflammatory agents that are stronger than ever. This skin repairing serum expedites cell repair and promotes natural exfoliation to bring the glow to your skin’s surface. The botanic identical retinal active Bakuchiol boosts cell recovery, maximizing your skin’s natural glow and enhancing its youthful appearance”.
Twilight provides your skin with the foundational elements to having healthy, happy skin – hydration and anti-inflammation. Its culture rich botanicals from Southeast Asia, fresh citrus and a hint of grounding scent brings instant calm to your mind, inviting you to take a deep breath and connect with your soul. And looking at the vibrant yellow colour of the serum in the pipette is bound to offer welcome cheer even on the gloomiest of days – it certainly lifted my frown during darker winter months .) My skin simply ‘perks up’ when I use this serum in the evening and then ‘sleep on it’.
HOW TO USE:
After cleansing your face, shake the Twilight BeCalm Skin Serum for a few seconds. Place 2-3 drops of the serum in the palm your hand. Gently rub your palms together to further activate the serum. Breathe in the sweet scent of the botanicals and gently massage onto your skin.
For Dry and Sensitive Skin: Adding Twilight BeCalm Serum into The Skin Revolution Mask will help to boost hydration and add anti-inflammatory properties to the existing detoxifying benefit of the mask. Use three drops of Twilight morning and night on cleansed skin after Yen Heal & Hydrate and Sai Clear Skin Serum to seal in hydration. Or apply directly on sun-burned skin to soothe and expedite the repairing process.
For Oily and Acne Prone Skin: Twilight BeCalm Serum can be used as a spot treatment for cystic acne, (sun)burn wounds, red and irritated skin, such as eczema and rosacea. It is a mild hydration sealant, perfect for those with oily skin during harsh, winter weather – just apply two drops to the tips of your fingers and massage into your face as the last step to your skin ritual morning and night.
