Containing 14, 18 and 28 high-performance ingredients accordingly, Tata Harper recently launched a trio of products in the “Superkind” subrange. Each product in the Tata Harper Superkind was not only developed fragrance free & hypoallergenic, but with a significant customer segment in mind. So if you are struggling to find effective skincare products for your sensitive, reactive or sensitised skin, this subrange is worth exploring.
There are three products for a simple, yet effective morning and evening skincare routine. The Softening Cleanser, Fortifying Moisturiser and Radiance Mask are free from 85 common irritants and allergens. Separately and together they are also helpful to age-proof the skin and protect its barrier function, rather than continue to compromise it via skincare products which might trigger a negative reaction in your skin. Our skin’s barrier function is the unseen defence system against environmental aggressors among other things. At the same time it is also a complex eco system that has three layers: the microbiome, the acid mantle and the lipid layer. When your skin barrier functions as it should, all three are perfectly balanced and work in synergy, allowing the skin to retain moisture and protect itself from the external damage.
Tata and her team researched and selected 36 multifunctional ingredients that with regular time and patience (plus consistently good lifestyle choices that will positively impact the look of your skin and body from inside out – a varied diet, adequate hydration, controlling stress levels, getting plenty of sleep and exercise, as well as time in nature & away from gadgets and social media apps) will help improve skin’s external appearance.
This gentle micro-foaming cream cleanser offers comfort to the skin, while gently shifting buildup and impurities off your skin’s top layer. The lipid complex that is at the heart of this cleanser’s formula supports the health of skin’s barrier, while a combination of restorative nutrients sooth stressed or reactive skin particularly well.
Tata recommends applying the cleanser to the slightly damp skin, as it is water activated, or wetting your hands and creating a dense and bubbly cloud of a foam that feels particularly good on the skin at the end of the day or when you return home from work, school run or errands and just want to re-balance yourself by taking a few moments to just be. Washing the face feels particularly nurturing with this cleanser and allows for a precious and gentle re-set – be it before getting on with things at home in the evening or getting ready for bed.
- Micro-Foaming Botanical Blend – Cleanses without stripping or drying out the skin & helps maintain a healthy skin barrier.
- Jojoba Oil – Cleanses and conditions the skin.
- Tetra Lipid Complex – Supports healthy skin barrier with skin-similar lipids and Omega Essential Fatty Acids.
- Counter Stress Complex – Feeds the skin with therapeutic nutrients to soothe and help to ‘rehabilitate’ stressed-out skin.
- Phytosqualane – Restores healthy suppleness, moisturises and restores skin’s natural moisture balance.
This cleanser is derm-tested and hypoallergenic, as well as certified by COSMOS – as are the other two products in this range. Due to no essential oil in the formula, this cleanser doesn’t have a specific fragrance, however it carries the lightest, delicate floral scent from natural extracts that Tata uses in the formulation of all the products in this specific range.
You don’t have to have sensitive or reactive skin to enjoy and benefit from this cleanser. It’s cleanses the skin without stripping it, in fact it feels as if the skin is caressed and cocooned, even after you wash off and pat the face dry. There is no dryness or tightness that some cleansers can leave behind, just the feeling of almost being cradled like a baby in the loving mother’s arms.

An ultra-silky moisturiser that delivers a cocoon-like barrier that will better hydrate, fortify, comfort and defends reactive, stressed skin? Yes please! – I said to myself even before I pumped this moisturiser out, upon reading the description. While I don’t have sensitive or reactive skin myself, I know enough people for whom finding the products to look after their skin is far from easy, even with celebrities launching their miraculous concussions into the world daily. Our skin is our fist line of defence and our biggest organ, so to have a range that was specifically developed with just such types of skin in mind is something worth writing about. Tata already did many things in skincare her way and she continues to be driven by innovation, feedback and requests that she gets from her brand’s customers from around the world.
The first thing to note when describing this moisturiser is how silky it feels to the touch and then gives the same feeling to the skin. It was formulated to cocoon and calm dry, damaged skin with moisture-retentive polysaccharides that fortify the skin barrier, while providing nourishment to delicate skin. I don’t know exactly how this is achieved from the scientific perspective, but the moisturiser is equipped with an Extremophile Endurance Technology that can filter allergens, shield skin from environmental aggressors and help keep your complexion from overreacting. What you can expect is for your skin to feel calm, hydrated, and defended – as if by a superhero wearing colour green – Tata’s colour of choice for her brand from day one.
- Microalgae Peptides – create a soft, protective barrier to filter skin sensitizers and stressors, while helping the skin endure extreme conditions – be it heat or cold.
- Rose of Jericho – Moisture-retentive polysaccharides optimise skin proteins and help repair and renew damaged or dry skin.
- Mondo Root – Helps rebalance skin’s microbiome and restore the homeostasis of irritated skin.
- Micro & Macro Hyaluronic Acid– Hydrates skin from the inside out & helps to restore visible suppleness.
- Tetra Lipid Complex – Supports a healthy skin barrier with skin-similar lipids and Omega Essential Fatty Acids.
- Counter Stress Complex – Feeds the skin with therapeutic nutrients, soothing and rehabilitating depleted or stressed-out skin.
- Mulberry Leaf Complex – Helps restore and maintain skin’s barrier defence system.

“Mary Poppins in a mask form!” felt like a eureka, as the thought popped in my mind, while I was reading about this face mask in the press release. The third product that completed the original launch of three product in the Tata Harper Superkind range in the summer ( earlier this week an eye cream and serum were added, making it a family of Superkind Five). This super light, creamy & gel-like mask is infused with a delicate blend of Self-Neutralizing AHA’s and serves a dual purpose: to replenish moisture and gently exfoliate the skin in order to revive a complexion that is dull or stressed, or worse, both the same time. After twenty to thirty minutes the skin will look healthier and more radiant, as dullness will lesses after dead skin cells will be dissolved. All that while the skin won’t be over-exfoliated or stripped of its balance. Sugar Prebiotics will restore microbiome balance, while Sugar Carbohydrate Complex will deliver intense hydration. Not bad for a home masking treatment, right?
- Self-Neutralising AHA Blend – Self-neutralising and gentle chemical exfoliants slough off dead skin cells while hydrating. Refines pores and restores radiance without irritating or drying out the skin.
- Sugar Prebiotic – Restores the balance of the skin microbiome and protects the skin’s natural defence mechanisms to protect the skin ecosystem and reestablish a healthy skin barrier.
- Beet Root – Boosts water content and hydration levels to optimize skin barrier function.
- Counter Stress Complex – Feeds the skin with therapeutic nutrients to soothe and rehabilitate depleted, stressed-out skin.
The ‘trick’ with this mask is to apply a thick layer over the face and neck and then ‘activate’ its formula by massaging the mask into the skin until it turns white. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat the skin dry. Even though this mask has a gel-like texture, it also feels somewhat ‘substantial’ on the face, acting as a helpful sensory reminder that it is a “wash-off”, rather than a ‘leave on’ type of mask for your face and neck.

Before I bring this post to a close, I also want to address the pricing aspect of this range. In this instance the products were kindly gifted to me, but that doesn’t affects my editorial content.
With the mask being the cheapest and moisturiser being the most expensive in this instance, any beauty product’s price factors in many things – from sourcing and quality of ingredients, to research, logistics, marketing and staff’s salaries. I know that Tata is the type of founder who also makes sure every safety aspect is ticked off before her products lands on virtual or physical retailers shelves. She also made clear from early one that her brand belongs in the “luxury skincare” category, not mass or mainstream. Tata Harper products look and feel luxurious and provided a special, not cursory, experience for its customer.
As I was writing this post, it was also brough to my attention that Tata Harper product prices were raised suddenly in the US and it happened without prior announcement. Within a couple of days I noticed that the prices were ‘harmonised’ in the UK in line with a US pricing – if you order Tata’s products via her US website, they are priced cheaper, but don’t forget to factor in shipping and VAT that will be added on your order. I am not sure why that price change took place and why it wasn’t mentioned on social media or in the newsletter to customers – if it was, please let me know and I will stand corrected. Without knowing full facts, I am not going to second guess the reasons, but it’s common courtesy to make an announcement and mention reasons to customers prior to doing such things. Many beauty brands now do it as a common courtesy to their customers a week or two before the change takes place.
However, having used Tata’s products from the time when her brand was just launched in the UK and very few people have heard of it, I think it still is the brand that delivers quality and efficacy – and it pays to use fewer high quality products, rather than a gazillion of the cheap ones. That being said, you still need to do your own research and get the skincare for your individual needs. Hope that helps and guides you on your future purchases when it comes to beauty and skincare.
